Zigbee, built on top of IEEE 802.15.4 standards, employs the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption utilizing a 128-bit key. The research investigated potential weaknesses in key transportation and management within Zigbee networks. To address these concerns, the proposed enhancement implemented Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) encryption to strengthen security during the network joining phase. The study quantified the additional overheads incurred by ECDH implementation, including computation, memory, and energy overheads.
