Integration of risk management system: towards a sustained access to EU citrus market
Ethics reference number: 2021FEBEREC-STD-115
Access to the lucrative EU citrus market requires South African citrus producers to comply with sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) risk-mitigating regulations and private standards. The research focuses on integrating risk management (RM) into existing quality management systems (QMS) to improve compliance.
Quantitative data were collected through a survey questionnaire distributed to citrus grower representatives in the Western Cape Province exporting citrus to the EU market. A case study approach and quantitative research method were employed. Descriptive and inferential analysis revealed the citrus growers’ perceived regulatory non-compliance concerns, integration measures employed and integration challenges experienced when integrating an RMS into an existing QMS. The dataset provides frequency tables, descriptive statistics, factor analysis and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test.
The dataset was collected for a master’s thesis titled “Integration of risk management system: towards a sustained access to EU citrus market”.
